Christmas season is here, and there are a few Malayalam movies which are ready to fight it out at the box office.

Masterpiece
Master of Masses is back with his campus thriller movie, Masterpiece. Directed by Ajay Vasudev, the movie tells the story of Edward Livingston, an English professor at the Travancore Maharaja College. It is based on a problem occurring on a college campus and how Livingston sets out to restore order and make the campus a better place for everyone.
The film features Mammootty, Poonam Bajwa, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Unni Mukundan, Santhosh Pandit and Gokul Suresh in lead roles.
Unni Mukundan appears as John Thekkan. Unni, alongside actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, is playing a cop in the movie. The actress plays as Bhavani Durga, an IPS officer. Punam Bajwa will be seen as a college professor in the movie.
The movie’s action sequences were choreographed by Stunt Silva, Kanal Kannan, Siruthai Ganesh, Jolly Bastian, and Mafia Sasi. It is scheduled to release on December 21.
Aadu 2
Aadu Oru Bheekara Jeeviyanu was tagged as a huge flop by Malayalis. However, after the DVD release, people started loving the protagonist Shaji Pappan. It immediately became a torrent hit and witnessed record DVD sales, with Jayasurya’s character Shaji Pappan being well accepted by the audience. Shaan Rahman’s music and background scores were one of the highlights of the comedy entertainer.
Ever since the character Shaji Pappan became a huge hit, demand for the sequel of the film has been appearing online for a while. Meeting all the demands, Aadu 2 will hit the big screen on December 22. Like the prequel, Aadu 2 will be produced by Vijay Babus Friday films.
“The sequence of the movie is going to be a colourful mass action comedy. Aadu 2 will have another episode of Shaji Pappan’s life. The actors, who were part of Shaji Pappan and team, will be retained†says director Midhun.
Vimanam
Vimanam, the directorial debut of Pradeep M Nair lightweight on the real incidents that happened in Saji M Thomas’ life. He is a deaf-mute person who had made a light weight aircraft.
It features Prithviraj and new face Durga Krishna in the lead roles. The film also has Nedumudi Venu, Shanthi Krishna and Sudheer Karamana, among many others in supporting roles.
Gopi Sunder composes the music for this film. Shehnad Jalal is the man who is behind the camera and editing is done by Baiju Kurup.
‘Vimanam’ is inspired by Saji’s life but it is not a biopic. As its tagline says, ‘To fly was his dream…to love was his destiny!’ It has a passionate yet innocent love story. While the hero desires to fly, Cupid strikes. You will get to know more about it while watching the film,’ Prithviraj says.
The movie will hit the theatres on 22nd December 2017.
Mayanadhi
Tovino Thomas’ upcoming film Mayanadhi will hit the screens on December 22. He recently announced on Twitter about the release dates of the film.
Mayanadhi is the latest directorial venture of Ashiq Abu starring Tovino Thomas and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The film has been written by Syam Pushkaran and Dileesh Nair while Amal Neerad had penned the story.
The film is believed to be an urban love story and Aishwarya plays a Kochi based techie in it. Rex Vijayan composes the Movie tracks for the film while Jayadevan Chakkadath handles the background score.
Aana Alaralodalaral
Vineeth Sreenivasan’s new romantic comedy movie Aana Alaralodalaral will be released on December 22. Directed by Debutant Dileep Menon and written by Sarath Balan, the film features Vineeth Srinivasan and Anu Sithara in Lead Roles.
It is a village-based story that features an elephant in a major role.
